Information We Collect
Because it is necessary for the purposes of authentication, billing, and customer service, we collect personally identifiable information from each registered customer, including name, credit card information, email addresses and other contact information.
Anyone may access a registrant's Required information to the extent that information may appear on the Whois form available for that purpose on the CTCD website.
Cookies
CTCD uses cookies within the registration and login pages of our website. These cookies are "session cookies" which are automatically deleted at the end of your session and are not used to store or maintain any of your personal information. We use cookies simply because they allow you to maneuver through our website without having to re-enter your password or your registration information each time you move backwards and forwards through pages during a single session.
Use and Sharing of Collected Information
The purposes for the collection of Required Information by CTCD are:
- to accurately, efficiently, and effectively process the registration application of the registrant and administer on a continuing and global basis the registration of domain names by itself and in coordination with ICANN and other ICANN accredited registrars;
- to identify to users of the Internet the registrants of specific domain names;
- to enable CTCD to identify, for its own business purposes, geographic, commercial, and marketing trends in the use and registration of domain names; and
- to abide by the requirements of the ICANN as that body may from time to time require the disclosure and processing of Registrant Information.
In addition, CTCD may disclose any Required Information, specified in paragraph 10 of the Registration Agreement, to third parties or to the public at large, for any purpose and at its discretion.
CTCD does not promise or represent that any such information, once provided as part of the registration process, will be maintained in secrecy, or otherwise withheld from the public for any purpose.
- Transactions: We share the minimum amount of personally identifiable information to our credit card intermediary, WorldPay, that is required by WorldPay to verify credit card transactions and to complete our secure registration payment process.
- Legal Requests: We will disclose whatever information we are required to disclose in order to comply with applicable law, or as may otherwise be compelled by legal or government authorities.
- Direct Communications: We use your information to deliver information to you that, in some cases, is specific to your interests, such as email communications, renewal and expiry notices, new services and promotions. If you wish not to receive promotional emails from us, you can modify your account preferences at any time to stop receiving them.
Access to Your Personal Information
When you register at our site, you are provided with the opportunity to select your own login identification and password, thus allowing you constant access to all of the personal information which you provide to us. You must promptly update your information if it changes.
Security of Your Personally Identifiable Information
Because protection against loss or theft of data is of great importance to us, CTCD follows the industry standard of safeguarding your confidential, personally identifiable information through a Secure Socket Layer (SSL). The SSL, in encryption format, exists so that whenever personal, credit card or other identifiable information is transmitted to or from our site, it is secure. CTCD reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time. In the event we change our information usage practices in a way affecting your personally identifiable information, we will post a prominent notice on our website. At that point you will be given instruction on how to opt-out of the new usage of your personally identifiable information. In the event that we do change this Policy, the policy in place at the time of use will govern use of your data.
